Our Style

Our photography is about so much more than just making pretty pictures. We’re there to document the good, the bad, and everything in between. It’s our hope that by looking through your album, you’ll be able to relive the day from start to finish.

Documentary Photography

We consider ourselves documentary photographers first. Every photographer has a different definition of what it means to be a documentary photographer. What we mean is simply that we want to capture candid and natural moments first. Our goal is to capture real emotions and what actually happened on your wedding day. We do our best to be a fly on the wall. We use cameras that are smaller, quieter and less obtrusive so that we aren’t a distraction. Wedding days are rarely perfect, and that imperfection is part of what makes reliving those memories feel authentic and not manufactured. We want to capture everything.

Emilie and I (Chad) even have different standards as to what it means to be a documentary photographer. Emilie is much more interactive. As a woman she’s more sensitive to a bride’s perspective. Very few of us are models, and she’s always quick to step in when someone needs a little help to look their best. I am much more of the fly on the wall type. I’m an observer and want to keep myself out of it as much as possible. And thats what makes us a great combination. Our individual styles act as a compliment to one another to give you the best of both worlds.

Our favorite images are the in between moments. The ones you don’t realize are happening but tell the story of the day.

Film and Digital Photography

We shoot a hybrid of digital and film. Emilie shoots digital while I primarily shoot film. We love the mixture it provides. Check out our page on Why We Love Film to learn more about film and what we love about it.

What about the portraits?

Yes, we still love to do portraits of you and your partner! Our goal is to help you be candid and natural and not put you into positions that feel awkward. We like to give prompts and not poses. We find that we get the best stuff when you are just enjoying being with your partner.

What about the Family pictures?

The best way to document your family is to do it naturally! We think you’ll love the candid and real moments more than the posed. But we’re happy to line everyone up if you want that classic shot with everyone in it. It’s no problem!
